1. Isolate the spill area. Use safety signs and barricades if necessary.
2. Put on suitable personal protective clothing and equipment.
3. Open the super absorbent container and first pour around the perimeter of the spill. Then use the remaining absorbent to cover the rest of the spill. Keep a little absorbent for later if you need to absorb some residues after the main clean up.
4. Wait 10-30 seconds for the absorbent to work.
5. Use a disposable scoop or scraper to work the absorbent into the spilt material. Then shovel the used absorbent into a disposable waste bag. Move the absorbent over any free liquid that may become visible.
6. Use a disposable wipe to clean up any residue. For blood and bodily fluids (and all bio-hazard or infectious waste) ensure you also use a suitable disinfectant to wipe down affected surfaces.
7. Clean and rinse any reusable cleaning tools like a dustpan and brush with a suitable disinfectant solution. Place all disposable cleaning wipes, tools, gloves and PPE into the disposable waste bag and tie the bag. Dispose of the bag in accordance with local government requirements.
8. Wash hands immediately and thoroughly with antibacterial hand soap and warm water.
