To complete the quiz at the end of this training course and receive your 'Certificate of Training' please ensure you are in "FULL SCREEN MODE".
No one wants injuries and accidents caused by chemicals in a workplace or anywhere for that matter. This training module is designed to cover all those DO’s and DON’Ts… the ALWAYS and NEVERs. So strap yourself in… We’re going to start with what you already know…
1. Respect chemicals
Consider all chemicals as hazardous. Always read the label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to use.
2. DO NOT mix or decant chemicals
Never mix chemicals together. Always use clean, empty and correctly labelled containers for refilling.
3. Know your products
Make yourself aware of the colour, characteristics and safety directions of the products you use.
4. Ensure proper label
Chemicals must always be correctly labelled. Always report any damaged or illegible labels to your supervisor. Replace any labels, which are damaged, defaced or illegible.
5. If unsure or in doubt… STOP!
Stop work immediately if you are unsure of any chemical safety issue or question. Never guess or assume anything relating to workplace chemicals.
6. Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as indicated on the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Personal Protection Equipment is not optional and must be worn.
Gloves are to be worn at all times when using chemicals, emptying waste, cleaning toilets, cleaning up body secretions and whenever your supervisor instructs you to.
That’s a good summary. Now we’ll get into some more details…
