1. Size of concentrate bottle

The size of the concentrated chemical's bottle or drum you're pricing. Pick a preset or type your own.

2. Cost of bottle

The purchase price for one bottle of the size above — excl. or inc. GST, just be consistent.

3. Dilution rate

Dilution ratio is Water : Concentrate — For example... 40:1 means, 40 parts water to 1 part chemical. Pick a preset ratio or type your own (you can also type a single number, e.g. "40" for 40:1). For an neat (no dilution) product enter a dilution rate of 0:1. Pick a preset or type your own.

All measurements are in metric (mL / L).

Getting an accurate cost

Use the actual invoice price — including freight if it's a real cost to you, so the per-litre figure reflects what you actually pay.
Confirm the real dilution rate — check the product's technical information; a dilution ratio quoted as a range (e.g. 20:1–40:1) will change your cost significantly.
Be consistent with GST — price this the same way (excl. or incl.) as whatever you're comparing it to.
Allow for wastage — spills and over-dosing typically add 5–10% to real-world usage versus the calculated figure.
Compare like-for-like — the cost per Litre of a ready-to-use solution is the fairest way to compare two products sold in different bottle sizes at different strengths. Remember that quality of results may vary also.
